I simply don't want to wear out my usb ports that quickly and the power button doesn't work I've tested it for like 15 seconds. But, it does go out. It takes like 30 minutes. I couldn't find any other way even after I found out you can update the firmware for it. lol

Why not use a short USB extension cable between the controller's wire and the USB port on your chassis/motherboard?

Just to clarify, the USB ports won't be worn out with the number of times you're going to remove and insert a device on the USB port unless you're truly being abusive with the port or device or you knock it out in a horizontal motion or you forcefully try and connect an USB device in the wrong way(yes, I've had to repair all of those instances). Look up USB port insertion MTBF and you'll see the number is way more than

ik but its brand new named brand 9 foot xbox usb controller. 😛 usb to type c. I just restart after I'm done gaming for now. haha

Is it a 360 or series s/x controller? If it's the 360 one, you could check this thread.

If it's the S/X one, holding the power button down for a while should turn it off.
its the newest xbox1 one or whatever. even though its the newest ones are still from 2016. i pressed the power down for like 30 seconds and nothing happened. even with a firmware update which i didnt even know what possible. lol

I guess you would have to remove the batteries everytime and reinsert them when you need them or disconnect the cable and hold the power button since I don't see any other solution to your problem.

Yeh, I've just been letting it idle. The power is probably almost zero like a mouse that isn't moving. I think it believes it is a mouse or something because on windows 11 you can use it within menus without any 3rd party software.
