Does anyone know if a daisha gives full Parry bonus?

You're holding one of the blades in your left hand, after all.

Is it a two handed weapon? They give full bonuses don't they now?

I thought it was only a proportion of your parry?

Otherwise why bother with shields at all?

I've lost track of the changes to combat rules; they've made so many,
but at one time the type of shield gave you bonuses to your Parry,
inversely proportionate to the amount of damage it would absorb.
Bucklers didn't soak up much damage but they gave the best Parry
bonus. A non-shield object held in the left hand will not absorb any
damage but would give you Parry checks. The last set of combat
changes made it so your weapon gave you half your Parry if you had no
other objects in your left hand. I forget now what two-handed weapons
do but it's probably the same; half Parry.

Whatever. I pulled my dex monkey out of the toy box and went island
hopping with him, came up with a bad case of elite ninjas and took
forever to grind them down using a katana and shield combo. One of
the friendly native monks helped out or I would have never finished
them. Anyway, came up with a daisha out of the deal and fooled around
with it. According to the popup not quite as fast as a kat but I do
a HECK of a lot more damage with it. I didn't realize how much until
I ran across a water elemental and chopped it to bits in 2 seconds
flat. I was just getting *ready* to apply bandages when its first
spell hit but before it got off a shot it was a puddle on the ground.

My dex'er said, "Cool!" and ran home to pound out a GM daisha w/spell
channeling. It'd be really nice if it gave him his GM Parry.
