Does assassins creed brotherhood work in windows 8.1

i installed this game in one of my friends laptop which has windows 8.1 .im pretty sure he has all the requirements to play the game,however after installing it when we tried to launch the game,the Ubisoft logo appears and a error message is shown saying the program has stopped unexpectedly.what could be the problem?is the game too old to run in windows 8.1

Sir, I have installed & reinstalled AC II, Revelations & Brotherhood and still they do NOT function in Windows 8.1, can you explain in detail how you got "yours" to work in the software ? Oh, I have also updated all my drivers and patches in an attempt to make it work.
