I am extremely confused since Google doesn't give specific answers. Does a higher BIOS number mean it's a newer version? I've read that it needs at least BIOS version 3803, and I have BIOS version 5603.
I see! I checked the website, and it does say it supports the CPU; however, what really bothered me is the BIOS version, as I don't have knowledge about BIOS versions. But your answer cleared that up for me.Yes, a higher BIOS version is normally newer than a lower BIOS number.
Don't bother with Google. Instead, go straight to the motherboard manufacturer's web site. Type in the part number of your motherboard plus its revision number. This will lead you to a list of compatible CPUs and details of different BIOS versions.
Some AMD BIOS chips were too small to hold details of all AM4 CPUs, with the result that more recent BIOS versions dropped support for the oldest 1000-series processors and A-series APUs. You should be OK with a 2000-series, but don't take my word for it. Check for yourself.
