My computer crashed, it won't boot with an I/O error. I decided to just replace the HDD since it is almost 4 years now plus I have copied all my important files using my rescue disk. (Though all my games and my movies are still in there because they would eat too much space on my external if I backed them up).
I'm eyeing these two HDDs.
Hdd Internal Western Digital WD Caviar Blue 1TB 64MB WD10EZEX (SATA 6 Gb/s)
Hdd Internal Seagate 1TB 7200RPM 64MB, ST1000DM003 (SATA 6 Gb/s)
Problem is my board is ASUS H61M-e that supports SATA 3.0gb/s only.
What I know are: SATA 6gb/s HDDs will work on SATA 3gb/s ports or even with 1.5gb/s ports.
You may need to jumper it to make it 3gb/s.
Some motherboards might not detect it totally.
So what I'm asking is, would ASUS H61M-e detect these HDDs with or without jumper??? If the jumper is needed, what kind of stuff can I use to jumper an HDD???
I want to know these things before I buy anything.
Thanks
