Does 'Audigy 2 ZS Notebook' allow stereo upmixing for analog 'Line In" inputs?

Hi guys,

I like to input my guitar into the soundcard so that I can play through all 7.1 speaker system of mine.

I just want to know if the NOTEBOOK versionof the Audigy 2 ZS supports this by way of CMSS or Stereo Surround? Because I know that the desktop/PCI version definitely supported this. And according this it can support optical line in upmixing: http://forums.creative.com/archive/i...p?t-43447.html

Any owners of this can confirm this?

Thank you

P.S., I tried Audigy 2 NX and that does not support it.

I do not have that card, but you may be able to try below.

If you happen to be on a newer version of Windows 7/8/8.1, you may be able to set your sound card to "Listen" to the line in.

The problem is one some cards it may have some delay. You will have to see if this is going to be an issue with your setup.

To try this you have to go to your recording settings. (Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Recording tab).
Select your line in and select properties then select Listen to this device on the Listen tab.

If your card has any upmixing, this should allow it to work with the line in.

You should mute the line in on the playback tab at this point to prevent hearing the line-in 2 times.

Thanks for your message. I tried it with my Xonar U7, and it has a lot of latency. It certainly prevents me from playing my guitar the way it's meant to be played due to the significant latency. I would pluck a string and hear it half a second later from my speakers.

Ok, well that one is out for sure.

If you are the DIY type, you may be able to setup some switches to allow the rear/side speakers to mirror the front(The problem being this is not automatic.). I did not mention the Center/Sub because most sub inputs would be too loud with the front signal. If you are worried about the loading, an operation amplifier(2 channel) setup as a buffer could be used to drive each set of channels. By this point things are getting more and more complex however(not to the point that one can not do it however).

Do your speakers have any way to upmix my any chance?

Don't think I can upmix them without the supporting sound card/driver.

Feels like the switches would be quite arduous. Would the ZS notebook not be a better solution?
