Does avx(cpu extension from intel) have anything to do with Directx 12 gaming?

With upcoming games using Directx 12, would AVX instruction set be a need(or requirement)?
I was told Directx 12 is more about asynchronous and parallel calculation, and avx utilisation will be needed.

To be honest, i don't know anything about Directx12 or how a cpu works(i'm sure many of us don't know) or what the heck AVX is.
But ,if anyone knows it, please, share it.
I don't want to be misinformed or get the wrong idea or be clueless.
I NEED to know it to make a decision.

Thank you very much.

AVX has nothing to do with DX12, to use AVX instuctions a game (or any other software) needs to be programmed to use these instructions (most software don't). And usually there are workarounds so the software works even on cpus that don't have it (although might have worse performance). For gaming I wouldn't worry about it.

How about Grid 2?I heard that game uses avx.

Apparently they have made some AVX stuff for it with which you get some extra graphic options to turn on. There's a separate exe file from which to start the game for this. So it is not required to play.
