I was reading this article about different Intel sockets and I started to wonder does chipset matter if we the correct socket? Like with LGA 1150 says it has H81, H87 etc. So do you have to have a cpu that matches that chipset? what about RAM? Will that have to match as well because I got a few RAM sticks that say Z77 and I have a Z77 chipset so no problems there.

Solution
Chipset is more of a feature set or class of board. Socket is about CPU compatability. Ram doesn't really matter chipset wise. Just a marketing ploy when a new chipset comes out...
Your RAM sticks say Z77 on them? Never heard of that. Yah those chipsets should support any LGA 1150 cpu as long as the bios supports said cpu, you can find that on the motherboard manufactures website, chances are it will or possibly require a BIOS update before you can use the CPU if the CPU came out after the motherboard.
