Okay so I have a i5 3470 quad core from a old pc my friend gave me and im currently using a i3 2120 dual core for gaming (with a gtx 760 of course) so i was wondering if I can switch both cpu so i use the i5 since both fit a LGA1155 socket or will it not work since the CPU's chipset are different, any help would be appreciated

What is your motherboard model number?

Just because they are the same socket doesn't always mean they will work. Probably that will work, but bios version and chipset can make a difference in whether a CPU is compatible or not.

Plus, if it is an OEM motherboard, and not an aftermarket model, the chances go down.
