Does clearing CMOS (removing battery) lose your BIOS update?

Hello,

I have a Asus z170 Pro Gaming Aura motherboard. I updated the BIOS to the latest version 3016 with my 6700k processor in it. I am now getting a 7700k since the 6700k was faulty and I found out the 7700k is supported by the 3016 BIOS update I flashed a while ago.

During troubleshooting my 6700k, one of the steps I did was removing the battery to clear CMOS. Does this mean I lost my 3016 BIOS update?

No you dont / wont lose the bios update but you will lose the settings. You have to reconfigure them after
