Question Does CPU shut down if CPU temperature monitoring is off in bios?

If CPU temperature monitoring is off in the bios on an asus motherboard will a 13th gen CPU still shutdown if it gets to hot or is it all the bios that shuts the PC down.

Alright because I had an issue with a AIO it had a bad pump when i would boot up the system it kept booting up to cpu temp problems and take me the bios so I got told to turn off monitoring and get into windows maybe it was a driver problem with the pump but in icue it was saying 100 °C maybe even higher and pump failure I'm just worried I damaged the cpu it's an i7 13700k and it also shut down a couple times before I turned off cpu temp monitoring
