Does crossfire config cover other expansion slots?

I am going to be doing my first build and I need some advice on selecting a motherboard.

I plan on eventually doing a crossfire configuration with some variation of the Radeon 4890 which will eat up 2 PCIe x16 slots on the motherboard. But I am a bit concerned that the crossfire configuration will end up covering up a bunch of other expansion slots on the motherboard due to the thickness of the two video cards. Specifically, I wanted to use a PCIe x1 slot for a tuner card and am worried this will not be possible due to the size of the video cards. For example, the motherboard bellow just doesn't give off a lot of confidence as far as using a PCIe x1 slot when having a beefy video card in the PCIe x16 slot just above it.

So is this a legitimate concern or are all motherboards pretty much spaced so that this will not occur? If I should be worried about this, is there any other way to tell if certain expansion slots will be covered up other than eye balling it from pictures of the motherboard?
