Does Dell SonicWall TZ105 have HTTPS & HTTP url filtering? If I purchase this router will I be able to block ANY inapproapriate URL or Google searches, etc? Thanks for the help
The feature is called content filtering. I have not used a dell to do this but I did see it mentioned one time when I was setting up a vpn. With most firewalls it is a licensed subscription service. You generally have to pay a yearly license for the filter lists and a sometimes you must buy the feature for the firewall. This is called read the manual to see if what you have to do to get the feature.
HTTPS can only be filtered by IP address. For example you could block google completely by ip but you could not see what search words came up. Same as you can search for porn photos and they will come up in google from sites that are blocked by the filter.
That's a hardware network firewall, it won't block sites that are deemed "inappropriate". That's something that's usually handled by software, not by hardware.
My 15 years old Sonicwall does have some filtering capability, but that's easy enough to find out, just download the manual and go at it, you don't have to read the whole thing, go straight to the filtering section.
