Does Dimm slots have to match?

Solution
Yes, it matters. It will depend on the specific model of Asus H110I that you have. Some H110I's use DDR3 and some use DDR4 RAM.

Go to the Asus web site and find the specifications page for the specific model. Scroll down to the memory section of the specifications page.

DDR3 RAM won't fit in DDR4 sockets and vice versa. SODIMM modules will not fit in DIMM sockets and vice versa. ECC RAM usually won't work in a non-ECC motherboard and vice versa. Registered DRAM won't work in an unbuffered motherboard and vice versa.

The speed matters somewhat. It doesn't make sense to buy DRAM rated for faster speeds than what your motherboard supports. You'll pay a higher price for the faster DRAM but you won't be able to use the higher speed.

are you thinking of ram speed?? still confused what you're asking about.

you have to have the right type of ram (ddr2/3/4) for the slot. the speed (1866/2133/2400....) will only run as fast as the mobo can handle. so 3000 speed ram in a 2133 slot will run at 2133 speed but should run.

at least this is what i think you're asking about
