Does DisplayPort 1.4 support 1.2 ?

Hello everyone !

I'm intending to buy a Gigabyte 1070 Xtreme Gaming ( http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5921#sp ) and this GPU has 3 DisplayPort 1.4 , however the Monitor i've chosen supports 1.2 DP only , my question is , when i will use a 1.2 DisplayPort on my 1.4 GPU , will it work ?

DisplayPort versions are backwards compatible, no problem there.

1070's DisplayPort 1.4 will work with 1.2v monitor.

As for cable, use the cable the monitor comes with to get the most out of your monitor. There are standards in cables that you should be aware of. http://www.displayport.org/cables/how-to-choose-a-displayport-cable-and-not-get-a-bad-one/

Keep to HBR2/ or cable supplied with the monitor.

The monitor ( http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/24Zoll--60-96cm--Asus-VG-Serie-VG248QE-schwarz-1920x1080-1xHDMI-1-4-1xDVI_829531.html ) doesn't come with any DisplayPort Cables , so i will be buying one myself .
