If you have identical memory types. Will a system with ECC have any performance loss over the non-parity stuff?

It shouldn't (I think). I believe that the ECC is in hardware (thats why the DIMMS are larger and non-parity) so you shouldn't experience any slowdowns.

Real ECC memory is in fact slower than non-ECC memory. You should only use it in mission critical systems such as servers.

Raystonn is correct. ECC RAM does have a performance downfall when compared to non-ECC.

I guess that's why it's a little more expensive. I thought I'd get the most expensive = best quality but I'm no server.

Yeah, so if you're not running a server or doing any critical calculations, etc., just go for the non-ECC. It's usually more easily compatible too.
