Does ECC Ram have better Quality assurance or does it meet same Desktop Craziness.

I'm looking at buying more ECC Ram for my server. Wanting to get 16GB DDR 1333 modules.

Does ECC Ram have better quality assurance over desktop, or is it just some random circuit they turn on to enable ECC.

I was thinking that could there be crappy ECC ram vs good ECC ram?

ECC memory is supposed to be reliable. It is designed for mission-critical applications, so I believe it should be hard to find crappy ECC RAM. I could be wrong though, having never used the thing and with the Chinese all over the place =)

I'd try to stick to known vendors.

Points:
1) Make sure this memory is compatible with your motherboard.
2) Flash your motherboard BIOS if a newer one exists.
3) Run MEMTEST or whatever diagnostic program works with your server (do it overnight).

I LIVE by doing Memtest! Every problem I run into with computers I start by doing Memtest. I do routine Memtest on all computers the same time I do an oil change in my car.
