Does formatting take this long?

So I formatted my laptop, choosing the option "Just my files" instead of deleting everything because I was under the impression it would only take a few minutes. That was eleven hours ago, and it is still "installing windows". This seems like maybe a bit too much time? I formatted it because I had a virus problem; all I want to do is play sims...

Formatting windows and deleting the partition, would take 6 minutes at best, then 45 minutes for everything to copy over and setup your new os install.
If you have your files backed up already, use the iso provided by windows 10 media creation, reboot the computer.
Run setup, find your primary partition, delete it, then let windows install make a new partition and let it from there.

A complete format and a complete clean install should take less than 15 minutes, something is wrong. Try to use a different install tool, as maikutech suggested;
