Does fraps show the FPS for free?

Does fraps show the FPS for free? I really don't need the screen recording feature, nor do I need the screenshot feature. I just want to know how many FPS I am getting. If fraps doesn't show the FPS for free, could anyone recommend a free or lower priced alternative to fraps for displaying the FPS?

most games have an in-game command to display your fps

If the newer versions are the same as mine, yes, an alternative is downloading Xfire, it has a bunch of features(if you get it and need help, add me, no1seriouslly)... Fraps updates very quickly, though you can change it I thinks....
Edit: Can't you download and check yourself, I don't remmeber it being big....
