Does FX6300 work fine with 'ASRock 970 Extreme3'

Hi folks! I had a ''ASRock 970 Extreme3' given to me, would this motherboard work fine with no problems with the FX 6300? and is this CPU a good modern one that will be able to play the latest games for example the next 3 years? Thanks!
