Hi,
Does the black plate help with cooling/BGA or is it just for looks?
Does anyone have "solid" proof of the efficiency?
Thanks.

YES.

Have you ever touched the backplate of your GPU while its under load? Its god damn hotter than that 10 grade girl i had a crush on.

With a backplate there is more surface area, which helps the heat to be passively cooled.

It conducts the heat but it doesn't send it outward. They were debating it on Linus and they thought it was just for looks. The reason is it doesn't touch the pipes or the actual gpu where the heat should come from so it could even hold it in. But I am not an expert I am just saying what they were joking about. I think it looks amazing. That thing looks so big lol. Like a brick.
