[SOLVED] Does having a fancy router make a difference?

Just was trying to do some research on different routers and I was wondering if having a fancy router can make a difference?

They may have more features for network management, but if you're the kind of person that just wants plug and play, with maybe minimal setup for Wi-Fi, they won't make a difference.

From a performance aspect i would say yes. While most routers can run all their Lan ports at full speed It's the Wifi connections that may suffer. The lesser routers might be able to only support 4 devices before degrading performance even though they allow many more connections and better ones might support 20 before degrading performance.

"Gaming" branded stuff tends to have a stupidly high markup and nothing to show for it a lot of the time.
