[SOLVED] Does having a newer motherboard make better performance

a motherboard will not contribute to better performance in anyway, unless it has a better GPU on it

You will probably have to update the bios on your Z370 to support the CPU if it didn't come with a compatible bios or you haven't updated it yet. Otherwise the 9700K will run nearly identically on your Z370 as it would Z390.

That's a lower end Z370, so after a bios upgrade it's going to run pretty much identical to a lower end Z390. That means it'll have some limits, like not being able to push the uber high OC levels that the high end Z370/Z390 motherboards can.

But for just your everyday stuff, it's perfectly suitable and there'd not be any difference you could measure.
