I've had some trouble in the past with adapters, I buy one that doesn't actually exist, it's just a useless chunk of plastic. So, do HDMI to VGA male cables/adapters actually work?
It has audio out too since VGA does not carry audio, but HDMI does.
yeah, you can't just go from HDMI to VGA without some type of adapter because you're going from a digital signal with audio to an analog signal without audio. The device he gave a link to is a good solution.
I have use this adapter to connect a Kindle Fire Stick to an old VGA monitor and speaker and it works just fine.
Unless you are also using a type of streaming stick I would go with the prior as this adapter is female to female, meaning it will require both a VGA and HDMI cable. The prior link is HDMI male to VGA female so you can plug the HDMI end directly into the source and then have a single VGA (and auxiliary cord, if sound is needed) going to the out put.
