Does higher FPS in games use more VRAM? (2gb for 144hz)

Hi!

I have a brother that just got himself a new 144hz display with my old gtx690 2gb powering it. My question is as shown in the title: Will the higher fps when playing at 144hz compared to 60 require more vram? I do know it will require alot more horsepower at those framerates, but the GTX690 is fairly powerful even after 5 years now, biggest issue being the 2gb's of vram :/

He will be upgrading his old CPU (i5-2320) to a used i7 or a new Ryzen 5/3 system in the future, but should he consider swapping the GPU aswell?

Thanks :)

Nope. It won't use more vram, however I'd highly recommend a GPU swap. You can get 144fps but you'll have to turn down textures and AA to prevent vram bottlenecking in todays titles.
