The motherboard I found for that system is a Foxconn 17A0. It has a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot so the video card should fit the board. Whether or not it fits in your chassis (case) I have no way of knowing. You'll have to get measurements of the GTS250 card length to verify that.

I found no information listing a 500 watt power supply for that model, unless it has already been upgraded. I would have to know the exact model number or see a picture of the label on the power supply to know if it's compatible. HP lists a 300 watt PSU, which is likely much less than 300...

HP lists a 300 watt PSU, which is likely much less than 300 watts for +12 volt and the GTS250 is a 150 watt card so the chances are not very good it would work, but unconfirmed at this point. It's also very unlikely a 300 watt PSU will have the 6-pin PCIe power cable to support the GTS250. This is all the info I could find about your old system. Not sure how much help it will be.

I think Archaic59 covered about everything spec wise. As someone who has had the unfortunate experience of upgrading prebuilts be prepared for a couple of things. Power supplies are often weird and don't always adhere to full ATX standard. While you can usually get them to work you may have to do some cutting on the case for ATX upgrades. Your 250 card needs a minimum of 450 watts. Also if the unit is running on integrated graphics make sure to disable them in bios. System resources are pretty limited on those older units and conflicts can come up. Good luck.
