Hello, I have a GIGABYTE LGA1151 Intel Z170 ATX DDR4 GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 mobo and I wounder if I could fit i7 7700k in it.
Thank you.

Yes if you purchase it now, the BIOS will have been updated to support the 7700K. It is possible to get an old board that has not had the BIOS updated, but that is fairly low probability. The necessary update has been out for more than a year.

That's what I always thought too, but I swear I saw people posting here with H110 boards with BIOSs that didn't support kaby lake all the way until coffee lake came out (maybe even later). And I'd say a Z170 board is arguably more likely to have an old BIOS than an H110 given that Z170 was phased out once kaby lake came out meaning that the board may have been produced quite a while ago (whereas they kept making H110).

thank you for the quick answer, but I have one more question.
is the last update of a bios include all the previous ones? or should I download them one by one?

Just install the most recent one.

The issue is you need a compatible CPU installed in order to update the BIOS. So if it doesn't have a recent enough BIOS to support a 7700K, you'd need to install a 6th gen Intel CPU, update the BIOS, and then install the 7700k.

yeah I already have i5 6600k which i'm using right now, so I just go with the last update?
