My main computer runs 24/7 many years with drives set to never spin down and I never lost a HDD because it wore out. Some say that it even helps their longevity because there's no added strain when they spin up and go thru self check at same time. Temperature is also steady with no warm/cool stress on material. If there's a secondary HDD that one would have to spin up every time system is used even if it doesn't have to read anything from it.
Yes and no, there is no one answer, if depends on your usage.

"I read, this bothers me, but I don't want to change it if it's going to harm the drive." Did I read your mind correctly?

You can go into Windows' Power Setting and let drive to go sleep, say if it idles more than 30 minutes, if you let it sit idle for that long, come on, it doesn't need to wear itself out. It's probably currently set for a much lower timeout, like 5 minutes.

If you decide to run that utility to never spin it down, its fine for me, as long as when you done using the machine you shut it down or sleep it, at that time, the HD will have a chance to rest. If you let things on 24x7, yes, non-stop spin 24x7 will wear the drive faster, unless is a WD RED or BLACK which are designed to be on 24x7.
