Does it hurt a laptop at all to leave it on literally all the time?

And the only time I take it off charge is to show my Dad the Football fixtures for a weekend, currently it's been on for 8 days and 1 hour. Oh should mention the laptop is always on a wooden desk, only gets hot when am gaming and so since it's a gaming laptop it has good ventilation. When have got no games running it is silent

I have to disagree. It is not a server meant 24/7 operation. Hard drives most importantly as well as the rest of the components have a life span. It will definitely shorten the life of your laptop period.

It will shorten the life of cause it will.
Unless when you don't use it it will go to sleep that won't be as bad or if it's just constantly on I would agree with him
