[SOLVED] does it make sense to upgrade the motherboard after 3/4/5 years of use and keeping the same processor?

now I have to get myself a new pc, and I need to understand this thing. In the future in 3/4/5 years I will need a little more computing power (because with the progress of the studies) I excluded the processor upgrade because I would also have to change the motherboard because it will change socket (and I do not have all this money), the other thing is to upgrade after that time frame keeping the same processor by changing motherboard, in your opinion it makes sense or makes more sense to take a higher quality motherboard right now and keep it for 6/7 / 8 years? Would I have a performance boost with the motherboard swap, but with the same processor? I would like some opinions. Thanks in advance for your answers

Referring to your post's title question only.....

I would say no UNLESS some required functionality on the existing motherboard has disappeared OR unless a new motherboard would have new useful to you personally functionality that could be exploited by the existing processor. For example, more NVME drive ports might be useful to you in 2024, but not today.

That's a general comment to which I'd guess you could dream up exceptions or qualifications.

Generally...motherboards will continue to boot or they won't. Pretty good chance that would be sufficient for your purposes, but there is always some chance they will boot with limited functionality....you get to decide if the limitation is significant enough to require a...

Motherboards in 2024 will have different capabilities than motherboards in 2022. That is completely unrelated to "quality". Some of the less commonly found capabilities on 2022 motherboards will be more common on 2024 boards, but some things on the 2024 boards undoubtedly are not available at any cost today. How that will play out remains to be seen and I would not make plans based on speculation.

Buying a new motherboard for an old processor might give more performance if it enabled overclocking the processor, much faster memory speeds or available features enabled. Or you are replacing an OEM motherboard with strict wattage limits your processor is capable of surpassing but its VRMs overheat and throttle the processor.
Most time the answer is no.

+/- 1-2 percent difference between brands is mostly negligible.
