Does it matter for the gtx 970 if i go sli 8x so that would be 2x gtx 970 sli mode going in 8x dual or 16x dual

Hi there
Your board (and the Z97 chipset) only supports running 1 GPU in 16x mode. For SLI purposes it supports 2 x 8x mode.
No, this not a problem as there is more than enough bandwidth to go around.
