Hi,

So I have just removed mobo to put in new pc and installed backplate on GPU.. gtx690. When card goes into pci-e slot 1... there is not enough clearance with the bottom ram slot clips and the backplate

can you take pictures to understand better the problem?

some mainboards will not care on what slot you insert the gpu, others will offer less speed for the communication on the lower slots

please give details of the new mainboard model to know if it matters or not

I've just tried it again and it literally clears with less than a mm so should be ok. Still, what a stupid design! The other ram slots are about 1cm higher up so why the f didn't they do it with the other side. Oh well should be ok thanks for the replies guys

the ram slot is made of plastic so shouldn't be a problem with the gpu backplate, no surprises there, if you managed to install it, it will be ok

if you need to remove ram modules in the future, for cleaning or upgrading or troubleshooting, be sure to remove first the gpu to avoid bad surprises when removing the modules

Luckily the moving part of the ram slot to take out the sticks is at the top so that won't be an issue. Finally they did something useful haha. On another note sorry off topic is servisol video 40 isopropryl spray a suitable solution to clean off thermal paste from cpu?
