I have already bought i7 4970k, AND Corsair vengence DDR3 4 8GB RAM sticks.

... A year ago.

long story short is I just want to know.. what is the difference in DDR3 and DDR4 when it comes to gaming? the games I aim to play are games such as :

The Forest, Call Of Duty, black ops 3, Minecraft, Battle Field, And basically just any game at all!! I love heavy gaming! But this new DDR3 - DDR4 is concerning me as I ponder if I continue with DDR3 will it make my system obsolete ?! Please detail answers with well thought out solutions, points, or decisions you would suggest as I really need the help.

Please keep in mind before you say "depends wat ur usennn it forrr" I said Heavy Gaming. So think of "HE WANTS HEAVY GAMING" Not "he may hmm want video editing oor.. " no just ... Gaming. Sorry for dragging it but every thread i make i have to specify the same thing 3 times before people get what i mean! Ugh but thank you for reading, and answering if you may...

I find RAM doesn't do to much. DDR4 is a bit faster but honestly RAM doesn't improve the frame rate too much in games. (Great games that you play BTW) But if you really want some good RAM then get some HyperX's DDR4 RAM

almost nothing,, ddr3-ddr4 ram had virtually no impact on gaming performance we are talking minor fps if any
if you have teh 4790k already use it, its great and will last a good while, no need to go to skylake just for ddr4

since skylake supports both ddr3 and ddr4, yes you can, and the comparison was infact made at some point on board that supported either

Yes, there are a few boards that support both.

My take on it based on lots of articles and benchmarks is currently as long as your CPU is strong enough and you have enough RAM (regardless of speed) your gaming experience will be dictated by your GPU choice. All other factors may make 1 or 2 fps difference

yup, the big choker came when they compare ram, and took anyting from 1300MHz ddr3 and up, to ddr4 above 3000MHz and the test showed there was virtually no difference or impact at a all, and the very few times there was it was so little it didnt matter 1-3fps

1 last thing, does it matter if its a 4790? Should I get a MOBO that supports both DDR4 and DDR3? For the long term "Future proof" relief? Or is it not really worth it.. Budget isnt an issue by the way

Well if budget is not a issue then why not.

The 4790 does not support DDR4, you would need a Skylake setup if you want that option

Oops...Somehow I read that as DDR4 sticks.
