hey guys. i got a 4.5ghz Oc going on my 760k when i run P95 it crashes instantly but after a 3 hour run on AIDA 64 it is perfectly stable. so what should i do? is it deemed stable?

Solution

But its stable in AIDA 64 though. so shouldnt it be fine? it didnt crash after 3 whole hours on that test at 100% load the whole time.

It is not the best idea but yes it can be done.. It just means when you really stress it (converting video or gaming in some cases) it might crash. I would just back it down a little till it is stable then you can lock it in and forget about it. Your call it might be ok and never have an issue but later on it could be a headache.

It still confuses me though. how can a CPu be stressed more in P95 than AIDA 64 EXTREME edition CPu stability test. if i run it at 100% load for three hours at 4.5ghz in AIDa 64 it is perfectly fine. the blend test on P95 is fine too. but the SmallFFTS test crashes me to BSOD. ive tried Bf4 64 man rush on lancang dam and didnt BSOD there either. it just confuses me lol

Stable isn't a rating derived from a test that stresses your computer beyond what you would use it for. Stable is a quality of life status and you should find that out for yourself by just using your computer, you'll soon find out if it's stable enough for your needs.

so you would say that a 3 hour run at 100% in AIDa 64 isnt as stressful as the same test in P95? is only small FFTS that crash me. the blend test is fine

yes p95 puts more preassure on the cpu. if you do anything important that requires a lot of cpu usage i would make sure that it is 100% stable in prime95 ust in case.
blend is a bit better for testing ram+cpu and small fft are better for testing cpu to its limits

so if i am stable in 64 man Bf4 ( the main game i play) and am stable in the AIDa 64 test and dont do any rendering or anything you would say its OK

for gaming it should be preety stable but you cant be sure 100%. some day it might crash
