Does length of modem cables affect connection?

So I've heard not to use a cord longer than 6 feet to connect the modem to the phone jack.
I'm wondering if the length of the modem cables, specifically the phone line cable, affects the speed of an internet connection? If so, how much of a difference from 6 feet to 25 feet?

Ethernet cables cost more which is why I thought of buying a new network cable, plus mine is really old.

Der, I'll assume you are using DSL. There should still be no noticeable difference between 6' and 25'. This length increase does not compare to the distance between your house and the phone company, fractions of a percent.

But each situation is different, if the cords are of equal quality, 6' will be overall better than 25'. Will this affect your speed a noticeable amount, probably not. If you are concerned about absolute quality, I would go with the shortest phone cable possible (high quality if possible) and a longer ethernet cable.
Just to be sure, we are talking about a phone line cable, not a ethernet cable correct?
When I was using dialup, I ran a 100' phone line under the house because I didn't have a phone jack in my room. This didn't affect my performance compared to when I was able to use my laptop in the living room right next to the phone jack using around 6' of cable.

I doubt you will see a difference between 6' and 25'.
