Does M.2 drive means better quality ?

Hi

I'm wondering if there a quality difference between HDD or SSD or M.2 drives..

For Video editing: rendering videos on M.2 does it makes your videos after rendering looks better quality and smoother then SSD drive Or HDD drive, or the quality is the same and the only difference is the rendering speed ?

M.2 comes in two varieties, which generally aren't compatible (there are some M.2 sockets which will take both types). A PCie version which acts just like plugging in the M.2 device into a full size PCIe socket, and a SATA version which will only take SATA M.2 SSDs. You will have to check with your motherboard specs to see which type of M.2 socket you have.

If it's a SATA M.2, there's no speed difference with a SATA SSD. The only difference is size and the lack of a SATA/power cables.

If it's PCIe M.2, it can be faster than a SATA SSD in some applications. Mainly large sequential reads or writes. The only real-world tasks where this regularly occurs is copying large media or backup files from one PCIe SSD to another, and real-time video editing. It will not make a difference in video quality or game framerate. It will shorten video render time and game load time, but very slightly (you probably won't even notice it). It helps speed up real-time video editing because the computer has to constantly read video files as you fast-forward and rewind back and forth.

M.2 is just a form factor, like 2.5" drive. There are SATA M.2 drives that will perform the same as your typical SATA 2.5" SSD. There are also NVMe M.2 drives, which are significantly faster than SATA SSDs on paper. Real world benefits of NVMe vary based on what you're doing, the typical user may not see a significant difference.

NVMe/SATA SSD/HDD makes no difference to gaming other than load times.

That depends on the type of M.2 drive, as a M.2 sata drive will be equal in speed to a sata SSD. M.2 drives don't get faster till you get into the NVME drives.

For the most part the only affect faster storage will have in gaming in faster load times.

standard SATA speed drives are available in M.2 and offer no speed increase over 2.5 inch SATA drives.
M.2 also has NVME drives (Non-Volitile Memory Express) which is roughly three times faster than an SATA drive, 2.5" or M.2

if buying a drive for the M.2 slot be sure you get the right one, SATA or NVME as both are available in that form factor.
I would hate for you to get an M.2 SATA drive and not get any increase you were expecting

Thanks I was looking for Samsung m.2 960 pro wish I think it's NVME drive..
