Does "Make this my main display" matter in display setting? (Dual Monitor)

I have a 144hz and a 60hz monitor. My 144hz monitor always drop back to 60hz when my second monitor (60hz) has some sort of animation movement. Googled for the whole day, and nothing suggested on the internet helped me fix it.

I finally found a fix to this by myself. I have to make my 60hz as my main display in display setting instead of my 144hz. So right now, the monitor straight in front of me that I use everything on including video games is the 144hz, and my 60hz monitor is on my left side is set as main display. What bothers me is that would this affect my 144hz monitor's performance at all if it is not set as main display? I'm afraid it my 144hz may not work as well as intended if not set as main display.

Try setting it to 120 Hz instead of 144 Hz.

I tried it already. Nothing I can find on the internet worked. Other than my own method; which is to make my 60hz monitor as main display. I just want to know if my 144hz will work just as good whether it is set as main display or not.

Main Display controls which monitor fullscreen applications like games open on.

sighh you're right. Most games run on main display monitor. Luckily I play Overwatch, and it allows us to choose which monitor I want to play on. I guess I still have to find a solution to make my 144hz work when set as main display for future games.
