Mantle only supports radeon 7000 series and above. It won't support below that.

My bf4 is much choppier than before, using my 6850 ever since the new patch of bf4 came out this week. Is the patch forcing non 7000 series users to upgrade since its designed for 7000+, or am I just being paranoid?

It won't work because your Graphics card doesn't support mantle, here is the proof:

i did not own the game but i heard there were a lot of stability issue with the latest patch.

What do you mean it won't work?

It won't be used in the AMD 6000 series and below

Simply put it, your GPU is too old. And slowing down the speed of the 6000 series might be AMD's marketing tactic. I suggest you restore the older drivers.

I also have the HD 6850 and it is still a very capable card. On most games it is doing better than a new HD 7770 and I didn't want to replace it yet. But your thread seems to suggest the end of it's life .....
