Does MHZ on ram affect gaming performance?

Hey guys, Does MHZ on ram affect gaming performance? If it does what frequency should i consider?
Ill be using an i7-4790k and a gtx 980

Not a significant amount, unless you're using the integrated video (like on a AMD APU). If you're using the integrated video, use the fastest RAM the motherboard supports.

It depends. Intel Haswell and AMD APUs benefit from faster RAM. AMD APUs particularly benefit from faster RAM when overclocking. Everything else, no. What CPU are you going to buy?

Not really. Anything above 1600mhz wont improve anything when it comes to gaming.

If your using the IGPU then MHz is a huge importance. But if just using a dedicated video card with it's own vram then no it doesn't matter.

In strictly gaming for the most part the DRAM is simply used as a data conduit, 1600/9 is generally the accepted entry level standard, with prices today what they are go for 1866 or even 2133 sticks as they are priced near same (some even less) and the higher freq will help in other computing tasks
