[SOLVED] does MSI X99A tomahawk support RTX 3080?

hi guys, i'm not a tech guy, but i'm planning to upgrade my GTX 1070 to RTX 3080 (in the upcoming days) for 3D rendering purposes, but i'm having a doubt:

1. with my mobo MSI X99A tomahawk has PCI-e 3.0 x16, while nvidia said that RTX 3080 support PCI-e 4.0 x16. Will it run? and will it smoothly?

2. if only it run, will it bottlenecked with i7 5820k?

here's my pc specs:
MSI X99A tomahawk
i7 5820k
GTX 1070
noctua NH-D15
team delta 16 gb x 2

6 cores 12 threads CPU. It should be fine for the RTX 3080. The big question is what is your Power Supply? 750 Watts is a recommended Watts for the RTX 3080. A good PSU too.

3 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots

• Support x16, x16/x16, x8/x16/x8 with the CPU that supports 40 PCIe lanes.
• Support x16, x16/x8, x8/x8/x8 with the CPU that supports 28 PCIe lanes.

Your CPU is 28 lanes so yes the RTX 3080 will work with your board and your PSU. You're fine
