Does multiple fans running at slow speed equal a full speed fan?

So temperature wise, if I run many fans at a low fan speed is it equivalent to say running 1 fan at full speed. How many fans would I have to have running at a low, quiet speed to equal the temperature output of a fan running at full speed?

Solution
Look at the CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) for a good idea of how much air fans move relative to each other, and dBA for the noise.

Opinions vary, but I think anything under 20 dBA is barely audible at all, and they have fans below that level that can move a pretty decent amount of air.
If you put 2 fans on the front of your case pulling cool air in, and one fan at the rear of the case to pull warm air out, your system will stay sufficiently cool to not have problems with heat. This assumes that the CPU cooler and GPU fans are working, and setup to increase the speed of the CPU/GPU fan(s) when the temps start climbing. I used Noctua fans for my case, and for the 212 Hyper Evo CPU cooler as well due to the fact they are very quiet and extremely reliable fans. They come with 6 year warranties, and are rated for 150,000 hours of use (17.1 years). Most of their fans are tan/brown, but they do have what they call industrial fans now that are black, which is what I bought and used with my system.

I setup my system using MSI Afterburner to have my GPU fan curve set like this:

40% at 45°C
50% at 60°C
65% at 70°C
70% at 75°C
80% at 80°C
100% at 85°C

That will keep your GPU reasonable cool as long as it is not severely overclocked and everything is working properly. You also need to click the checkbox to allow MSI Afterburner to control the GPU fans.

What kind of quiet fast fans do you recommend? I was planning to buy a few Noctua fans. Can you leave an amazon link as well.
