Does my AMD FX 8150 CPU bottleneck my MSI GTX 970 (if so how bad?)

The FX8150 has a pretty terrible single core performance so yes it's going to bottleneck the 970 in some titles that are particularly cpu intensive. Honestly I can't say how much of a bottleneck you'll have. It'll really depend on the game. I'm sure you'll still get decent fps in any title.

Thank you for the reply. I now am wondering as I don't have much money right now to consider upgrading CPU so will over-clocking perhaps improve some of the bottlenecking?

Yes overclocking will help some.
