Does my CPU run hot?

My Specs are:

I7-8700k CPU at 3.7GHz
ASUS RoG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC)
Two 8 Gig G-Skill 2133 MHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 980

Corsair H150i Pro cooler on intake, 3 fans on top of case and one on rear of case for air out. 7 fans total.

I just built the PC and im concerned my CPU may be running hot. Im not overclocking. In bios the temp always showes at 55c or 56c. The corsair moitoring software shows an idle temp of 65c with spikes into the 70s when browsing and 90s when benching and gaming. It only appears to be a spike though as the temperature will instantly drop back down to around the 65c mark again. I dont see how the cpu could disipate 30 degrees of heat in one second so im not sure if i should be beleiving these numbers.

I downloaded the intel extreme tuning utility which has a temp monitor on it and a bench test. I run the bench and the intel temp monitor basically shows the same thing, spikes into the 90s then drops back down the next second.

I then ran the Intel Processor diagnostics tool. While that tool was testing, both the corsair and extreme tuning utility showed basically the same thing, the high spikes and the instant drop, however the Intel Diagnotic tool showed these temps which are much better than what the other two apps were showing. (About 10C lower)

I have pulled the cooler off, cleaned it and the cpu, applied artic 5 (pea method), put the cooler back on firmly but not to tight. I got no change. Also since I'm not overclocked my cpu voltage is not above 1.4 I think its around 1.027.

Should I be concerned with these numbers or is this normal? Is this just some goofy software issue ? The 3rd party software numbers seem to be 10 degrees higher than the bios and Intel Diagnostic tool numbers.

Go on task manager and go on performance what speed is it running at and have you checked again to see if the cooler not loose because know you changed the paste again but said not to tight maybe the cooler has got bit off a gab between the cpu! and you could Try restoring the bios settings back to normal!.

I notice last week my CPU was overclocked to 4,5ghz and did not even overclock it to that amount maybe its worth a try

I reset my bios to defaults and it says 3.7 in it. Cooler looks good, task manager says base speed is 3.7 but the actual speed its running at fluctuates but basically stays around 4.2

I have the same setup and have just bought the H150i Pro. I have the H500P Mesh case and have the H150i on the top of the case blowing air out of the case. 2 front intake fans bring air in and the rear 140mm Fan also brings air in (I did this to make sure the VRM's were getteing air).

My 8700K is overclocked to 4.8GHz at the moment and my temps are:

Idle - 28 to 30 degrees C
Load in Prime95 26.6 - 55 to 60 degrees C
AIDA - 60 to 65 degrees

At 4.9GHZ, it adds about 5 to 10 degrees across the board on load.

I changed the bios settings so that the error code board displays the cpu temp. I'm looking at the display and AIDA. Board says the CPU is 53c AIDA says 63. Corsair software says 63. Everything displays about 10 degrees higher than what the board says the cpu is. I have the case open right now. I don't feel any heat. Even with the case closed the air blowing out felt cool. My old PC you could feel the warm air blowing out at times. Only time i feel any heat from this PC is from the graphics card when I'm working it. My Board is setting at 28c,

Try Hardware Info which tends to give very acurate readings. I personally think everything is okay but double check a run of Prime95 v26.6 and Aida and check temps through Hardware Info...Also in Hardware Info what does the vcore reach under Aida and Prime Load?
