that 550w PSU is probably generic crap, and people here LOVE telling you you MUST get a new one. Its really dumb and your PSU is probably fine to run an athlon 3000g and an rx550. Dont waste your time buying a new PSU. Replacing a PSU is easily one of the most time consuming and most difficult tasks a new PC builder will encounter. Essentially your rebuilding the entire computer (from a hardware standpoint).

If you have money to spare throw it at a dual-channel memory kit or a nicer graphics card. dont upgrade that PSU unless it fails, chances are VERY slim it will ruin your system's components even if it fails.

my man, dont tell this guy to get a new PSU.

Its a 65w CPU, 1 stick of memory, and an rx550 hes running lol. you work for seasonic or something? jesus.

His system doesnt even demand 200w, theres plenty of overhead with a 550w PSU, even if its pretty crappy by today's standards.

Did someone forgot to take his meds?😁. Jokes aside.You are correct.Hell my old am3 4170(125w tdp) + rx 550 runs on a generic 450w psu for more than a year now.For a small pc like that it should be fine.

:cries softly::ROFLMAO:

I think theres just a lot of pretentious hardware-review junkies on this website with deep pockets who never actually tried it for themselves. just trying to save their unknowing prey.

Can you imagine yourself posting specs in the format the OP posted them and having people expect you to tear down your whole rig? replacing a PSU sounds easy until your old PSU is sitting on the floor and your new PSU is sitting in the box.

I ran a hefty, power-hungry am3+ build on a generic 450w PSU for almost 3 years. The PSU was almost 8 years old when i BUILT the system. so after 11 years the PSU was still good and its actually sitting in my closet still because im going to use it to power a massive custom LED quantum board im building.

geeez guys i was asking for make/model of power supply just to make sure he can run it without blowing it up.I had a 10$ 500W unit and it couldnt run anything.Im not telling him to buy a 1600W power supply.I just wanted to make sure that his pc doesnt become a fire.Chill
And no i dont work any power supply manufacturer,im 16 lol

Edit:And yeah i agree on the fact that there are people on this forum who say replace the psu if its not seasonic,corsair,evga,etc.. and im not one of them.I hate when people tell someone to replace a lets say 800W unit if its not from a popular brand.I just want his pc to be safe.Thats all
