Hi, just made an account!
I have a HP Pavilion DV7 6102sa and I was wondering if it supports AHCI? There is no way of checking on the BIOS. If you need any more information, just ask.

---System Specs---
AMD A4-3310MX
AMD Radeon HD 6480M+6490M
6GB DDR3 RAM
2x Hitachi HTS545050B9A300 500GB 5200RPM HDD (soon upgrading to a Crucial MX200)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

PS:Is AHCI important to consider when purchasing an SSD?

Solution
Your laptop does support AHCI. There aren't any systems released in the last few years which don't.

To get the full benefit of an SSD you should have a system with AHCI and an operating system which supports TRIM. The SSD will still work very well without those but not as well as one which has them. This is mainly because TRIM cleans and clears the SSD as you delete data in readiness for new data getting written to the drive. Without TRIM, the SSD only clears data when you come to overwrite it. For TRIM to work it needs AHCI enabled.
