I want to get a 500gb M.2 drive for my PC, but my motherboard I'm planning to get, the B450 Tomahawk Max, doesn't have a heatsink for it. Would it be fine without a heatsink?

Solution
that depends on your usage
if its for gaming, it will hardly heat up
if u gonna use it for video editing, u may need one
anyway it will work without heatsing
u can monitor temperatures with hwinfo64 and see if it throttles (~70С)

K I just plan on using it to download Windows 10 onto it and some apps like Discord and Chrome while my games are put on my hdd so I don't think it'll be necessary.

If you're buying a SATA drive then no...if you're planning on an NVME drive then you should look into a heatsink as the performance can degrade especially in hot summer weather.

I am buying an nvme drive.

But idk how hot summer weather will affect it that much since I'm not gonna be outdoors.
