Does my memory work

I got an 8gb stick of memory it is ddr4 but it says dual channel technology. Does that mean I cannot use a single stick of it? I am using the as rock b250m pro 4 motherboard and it says it is unable to activate dual channel memory with only one or 3 sticks in the user manual. Can I still use 1 8gb stick of memory that has dual channel technology. Also for single channel the motherboard doesn't specify a slot so can I put it in any slot?

1 stick = single channel. You need 2 or 4 identical sticks to make it dual channel.

The manual will tell you what slot to put 1 stick in

You wont get dual channel with 1 stick. You need 2 or 4 sticks... That's why it's called dual = 2 / a pair not 1 stick

I don't want to use dual channel though I am fine with single channel but the stick supports dual channel so would I need another stick for the computer to work?

You can still use 1 stick like I said, but if you want dual channel you need 2 identical ram sticks

Hehe, I think PaulNZ did not understand what you are trying to achieve. Yes, you can use single stick you have and it will work in single channel.
