I am considering buying an SSD! I have heard that those things work best in AHCI mode rather than IDE mode. Anyways, my decision to buy/not buy ssd and upgrade the whole MB depends on whether it supports AHCI.

I downloaded CPU-z and details are as follows:

motherboard -- DL-G41MX3-LT

It says southbridge is ICH7/R which means that according to THIS wikipedia article, it must support AHCI. Am i right in assuming that it does?

It doesn't have ahci, motherboard chipset is G41.

Some of these programs display two things at same time. There is no " ICH7/R". There is ICH7 and ICH7R, just like there is 82801GB and 82801GR. Your's doesn't have raid so it doesn't have ahci either.

Wow! 4k performs better in IDE mode! Holy shit

How do i check in BIOS?

I just posted screenshot direretly from CPU-Z. That's why i was a little confused.

82801GR DOES have AHCI support according to wikipedia. This could be a modified version or something
