Does my motherboard support Core 2 Quad???

Hello guys how are you? My motherboard details. So i want to ask does my motherboard support any core 2 Quad processor cause i want to buy a second hand one and haven't really got the budget to upgrade the whole system. I want to buy Q9400 Core 2 Quad but any other core 2 quad processor would be nice. That's all i need to ask any help would appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Thwe socket ( 775 ) does, but I doubt if it will. First would be the BiOS and second, I'm not sure of the chipset either, but that may be a maybe, but still leaves the BiOS. There may be a BiOS upgrade, but I doubt it.

The reason I say that, just ecause the socket is the same, doesn't mean it will run. Sometimes it is a mater of the BiOS and there may be an update for that. I had one years ago running a Pentium D 805 ( 2.66 Ghz ). I decided to move to a Pentium D 945 ( 3.4 Ghz ). I had to Upgrade the BiOS in order to do that as I was going from a series 8xx processor to series 9xx processor. In your case there is the matter of the Chipset as well. From what I saw, all the CPUs supported were dual core. The Core 2 Duo is a good CPU ( I couldn't move to that in the one I had ).

Seeing as how no Quad cores were listed and just went up to Core 2 Duo, my guess is that it was made before the Quad cores came out. Those Chipsets contain the controllers and of course there wil be a difference if it was made before the quad core. Once the Quad core came out then it had to be versatile and be able to run both a dual core or quad core, so a different controller. If the BiOS update has a Read Me, then that will tell you what the update is all about.
