Does my PC have any issues?

Do I need a better motherboard? Enough wattage? Do I need a CPU cooler? Will it fit in the case? It's my first powerful build so I really don't want to mess up.

Motherboard: MSI H97 PC Mate
RAM: G. Skill Ripjaws DDR3 2x8 Gb CL9
Power Supply: Corsair CX750 80 Plus Bronze
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250 Gb SATA 3
Hard Drive: WD Green 1 Tb SATA 3 64 Mb
Case: NZXT S340

The mb is very budget and will not let you overclock so there is no point in a K sku processor .

Ideally if this is for gaming change to a 6600K , Z170 mb and DDR4 . Haswell is obsolete

Would it be better if I used the Z170 with the 4790k, or would I get worse performance? Also, what does DDR4 mean?

The new skylake processors wont fit older mb's
The 4790 wont fit a skylake board

DDR4 is the new memory standard that is replacing DDR3 . Form now onwards chip makers wont use DDR3 again so if you buy 4790 then ugrading will become harder , or impossible
